Ring in 2026 at Gobelo!

There is something about the days leading up to the end of the year that brings out a mix of reflection and hope. Everyone and everything seems to slow down and communities come together. There is this “unspoken” understanding that we are all preparing for something new.
In Hwange - the New Year’s traditions are a little different for everyone. As we approach December 31st, it seems everyone is looking for a spot to have that “festive season braai” - and it’s this time of the year that we see so many families spending time together. Parents are taking a break from the strenuous demands of work and reconnecting with their loved ones. With so many Hwange residents working away from home, most families are just happy to have the time together away from their busy lives in the bigger cities. Often relatives from out of town will come home to Hwange for a visit to what we call our “rural homes” where they can spend some time with extended family members just before January truly begins and kicks off another big year.
Some families welcome the new year with a special meal, others take time to dine out. As for us at Gobelo, we have built our own traditions. This season we are excited to share a full line up of festive season activities all hosted at Gwango. We have curated a range of experiences for visitors and friends who want to create a memorable end to the year - starting from mid December and running all the way up to the very last night of the year.
As a culmination for the 2025, we will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Bash (for grown ups) with a four-course dinner, a live DJ, dancing and a midnight champagne toast. The night kicks off at 8pm and continues till midnight and costs just US$45 per guest.
Children will also have their own magical celebration. The New Years Eve Kids Slumber Party will run from 8pm to midnight for ages 2-15. It will include games, movies, kid friendly treats, arts and crafts, storytelling and a cheerful countdown just for them. It is a safe and supervised space that allows children to enjoy their night while parents celebrate knowing the kids are well cared for.
The festive season at Gobelo has always been linked to the community. Every meal, every shared moment and every celebration takes us back to the reason we do what we do... This year’s lineup is a beautiful way to end 2025 as a community and begin 2026 with renewal and inspiration.
