So many ducklings!

It has been a busy and exciting time at Gobelo Farm. In just a few short weeks, we have welcomed more ducklings than ever before. One proud mama hatched 22 ducklings and another followed with 17 more! It’s been quite the parade of tiny feet across the farm. The sight of them all waddling around together is both adorable and a little bit overwhelming.

With so many new arrivals, we of course, have had to make a few changes around the farm. A new pond has been built and it’s already complete. This project started a while back because we felt the older ducks needed more space. So it’s nice to have that completed just in time for the new arrivals. The ducklings have started exploring it already and are splashing around and learning from the older ducks. We have also started putting up new pens to give everyone enough space to grow comfortably. The pens are still being built and we are looking forward to finishing the roofing soon.

Every season always brings something new and you would think by now, that this is a feeling you just get used to. Well, we keep proving that wrong because the excitement truly never fades. No matter how many times we have seen an explosion of ducklings or any other farm animals, it seems to always feel like it’s the first time. We learn something new from each batch…the timing of their hatching, how early or late they arrive, how the weather affects them, their care…they are all so similar yet so different.

At Gobelo, we cherish these times and take them as reminders of what the farm really is. A place that is constantly alive, constantly growing and always teaching.
